Speccy is a tool that allows you to check the information about hardware and software of your computer. The information displayed by Speccy includes processor brand & model, hard drive size & speed, amount of memory (RAM), details about graphics card, the operating system, and other things.

Regular Steps to Manually Remove Speccy

In the following steps, I particularly listed the steps you can take via the Start menu in Windows 10 along with those in Windows 7/8. Hopefully they see to every reader’s needs. First of all, make sure you’re using an Administrator account. If your system never had a second account, skip this, and start the removal right away:

Step 1. Close Speccy first.

Stop the Speccy program from running in the background no matter what. It may not be necessary towards the removal of some programs, but just in case.

Step 2. Open the list of currently installed programs.

Windows 7:
Open the Start menu > Select Control Panel > Click Uninstall a program

Windows 8/8.1:
Right-click on the Start button > Click Programs and Features

Windows 10:
Right-click on the Start button > Click Programs and Features

Step 3. Remove Speccy via the Programs and Features.

Click on Speccy > Uninstall or Double-click Speccy to activate its default uninstaller > confirm the removal > wait for the wizard to finish the process.

Step 4. Open the Windows Registry Editor.

Windows 7:
Open the Start menu > Execute “regedit” in the search box

Windows 8/8.1:
Point your mouse to the bottom-right corner > Select Search > Execute “regedit” in the box

Windows 10:
In the bottom-left corner of your screen, execute “regedit” in the search box on the taskbar

Step 5. Delete the vestiges to completely remove Speccy.

Now you’re removing the files that regular uninstallation might leave behind. Before doing this, you might want to back up the Registry first in case of any mistaken deletion.

If there is no other software of Piriform (Publisher) installed in the system, navigate to these folders and delete them:

Then on the navigator of Registry Editor, click Edit > Find… > search for “TeraCopy” > Delete the file (s)/folder (s) if found.

Step 6. Reboot your PC to take effect.

Then check your system tray (right end of the taskbar) and Task Manager (hit Ctrl + Alt + Del to open), if Speccy is not there then the removal was successful.

Compared to the manual way, this would be much easier to understand and perform. Anytime you wish to uninstall a program, just launch Max Uninstaller from your desktop or the Start menu instead of thinking where to start the removal. But knowing the regular uninstall steps, you might as well try to remove Speccy this way:

Step 1. Open Max Uninstaller, select Speccy as your target, and click Run Analysis > Then you see the list of related files with details including their names, locations and sizes.

Step 2. Confirm the uninstall by clicking Complete Uninstall, then click Scan Leftovers to proceed > A list of registry entries (remaining files) will be presented also with details including their names, locations and sizes.

Step 3. Click Delete Leftovers to completely remove Speccy.

After seeing the “Congratulations! The program has been successfully removed…”, you can click “Back to Step1” to refresh programs list, then check whether your target has gone. Here is a short video demonstration:

To reinstall Speccy, download it from its official URL: www.piriform.com/speccy. The installer may give you options to install Google Chrome and Google Toolbar, if you don’t want them, remember to uncheck the options.
