Uninstall GoToMyPC – Remove Remote Desktop

Could not run remote access software GoToMyPC on Windows 7? Encountered incorrect access code format error message, then you wanna uninstall GoToMyPC?

To run GoToMyPC, you first check the Internet connection: you right click on Internet Access icon in Taskbar, click on Open Network and Sharing Center link. Then you click on Connections: Local Area Connection and then check the Media State section in General – Connection. Or you see the Internet icon got grayed out? The first part of this page will help you completely uninstall GoToMyPC; if you just could not use the manual steps to complete the install of GoToMyPC, please save and run the following uninstall tool to force uninstall GoToMyPC from your PC.

You can uninstall GoToMyPC via the following methods

  • Method 1: Run Windows’ Default Uninstaller
    • Click Start > Control Panel; or you can also type “un” in Search item > visit Uninstall a program.
    • You can: 1) highlight GoToMyPC program listed, click option “Uninstall/Change” for it to automatically uninstall GoToMyPC; 2) or right click on it, run the option "Uninstall" displayed to uninstall GoToMyPC from your system; 3) double click it to directly uninstall GoToMyPC.
    • The Confirm Uninstall window will be appeared, telling “Do you want to completely remove the selected application and all of its components?”.
    • You click OK to automatically remove or uninstall GoToMyPC.

  • Method 2: For advanced users, you can also uninstall GoToMyPC by making use of Citrix’s UninstallString in Registry Editor
    • Locate this section, [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall].
    • Right click on it, run the Find… command on that menu; copy or type Citrix, press your [Enter] key
    • Open up the REG_SZ file type, named UninstallString [RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\engine\6\INTEL3~1\Ctor.dll,LaunchSetup "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{58F4D4FD-1814-4068-B316-C28FC776C6DD}\Setup.exe" -l0x9 AddRemovePrograms].
    • Copy and paste that data string into Windows Explorer’s Address Bar, press the [Enter] key again.
    • If you see the User Account Control, shown below, you then click Yes button to continue to uninstall GoToMyPC.
      • Program name: SetA8E7.tmp
      • Publisher: Unknown
      • File origin: Hard drive on this computer
    • Click OK on Confirm Uninstall to uninstall GoToMyPC.

Or, you can also try the following option to uninstall GoToMyPC from your system:

  • Copy and paste this string [C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{58F4D4FD-1814-4068-B316-C28FC776C6DD}\Setup.exe].
  • Meet Windows UAC? Click Yes on it to go on to uninstall GoToMyPC.
    • Program name: Setup.exe
    • Publisher: Unknown
  • You select the Remove entry on GoToMyPC Installer – Update/Remove Current Installation, telling “GoToMyPC is currently installed on your system. Choose an option below.”, then click Next > button.
  • Finally, you click OK to uninstall GoToMyPC program.

How to Resolve Problems Related With GoToMyPC?

  • Issue #1: Could not run/open up GoToMyPC!
  • Note: The Check internet Connection may have told you that “Your computer appears to be offline from the Internet. Please check all connections and try again.”

    • Click OK on it to quit that info box
    • Right click and run the Open Network and Sharing Center
    • Please review the tips at the beginning of this GoToMyPC removal guide
    • Wait for Windows Network Diagnostics help you detect and resolve errors related with Internet connection
    • Follow and Complete the rest of repairing process with your Administrator privileges clicking “Try these repairs as an administrator” button
    • Then the Windows Network Diagnostics will inform you that “Troubleshooting has completed. The troubleshooter made some changes to your system. Try attempting the task you were trying to do before.
    • Click Close the troubleshooter button
    • Try to run your GoToMyPC again entering account related information
    • In case you forgot your password for GoToMyPC, you need to visit the Web site link to retrieve it through your registration email
    • Note: The Incorrect Email/Password Combo will tell you “The email address and password you entered do not match any account on file. Please try again. If you don’t have an account or have forgotten your password, visit www. GoToMyPC.com”.

  • Issue 2: How to set GoToMyPC Access Code?
  • Note: You may find that you just couldn’t complete the Confirm Access Code item in Computer Setup – Access Code section.

    • You should then review the useful tips displayed, shown below
      • Computer Nickname: Please create a nickname for this computer (e.g., Office, Home, Rover).
      • Info: Please create an access code for this computer. Remember:
      • - It should be different from your account password.
      • - It is stored only on this computer and known only to you.
      • - It must be at least 8 characters and include both letters and numbers.
      • WARNING: If you forget your access code, you will have to be physically present at this computer to reset it.

Note: You may need to re-register GoToMyPC when you read the Plan Expired information window, saying “Your plan has expired. Go to https”//www.gotomypc[dot]com to renew or change your plan.”.
